It's called natural selection, unhealthy or not so strong and stupid animals are killed and their genes do not pass on to the next generation and prevents the creation of more weak animals that will more or less likely be killed.

I think the gene thing is what happens to most HUMANS i know...Anyways, I'm actually starting to agree with Raptor. Poor care=poor quality. So, you know the animals have been treated very kindly and carefully during their lifetime untill they are no longer helpful to us. I also agree with what WEO said. Some people have a wonderful life, a mansion, a car, a pool, stuff like that. Thats where your brain has room for stuff like sympathy for animals that have been killed. it happens. And other people who basically live on the streets, Dont have sympathy for dead animals because they need to worry about other things, like food, shelter, water, and the survival of themselves and their family.

Lol, I'm middle class. I only have sympathy for the animals who are ill and such. None for those who are butchered or meat or injure/kill themselves in stupid ways.

It is an egocentric viewpoint (thinking that everything is all about us) to think that the sole purpose of animals is to be here to serve man. Their value is more than what we take from them.

Sheesh! All this over a bunch of animals. Its ok to kill them, but don't endanger them by killing them for sport or just killing to many. Gotta have balance. They were put here to be eaten by us and other animals, but don't kill off the whole population. (No idea what the last few posts above mean't. I don't know what you were all taling about above.)

Uhhh...... (Maybe) *Read Rose's post*
So is this all about not being sorry for animals that are sick, since they're gonna die anyways? Why not try and help them?

Yet you were jumping me for being an 'animal murderer'.

Nice way to show your hypocrisy.

There was a story about a lady walking on the beach where many starfish had washed up and were stranded and would soon die. As she walked along she was picking them up one at a time throwing them back in the water. A guy on the side then asked her "But this beach is miles long and there are thousands of stranded starfish, many will die before you reach them - do you really think throwing back a few starfish is really going to make a difference?" She picked one up and said "it makes a difference to this one, and threw it in."

So given the context of your question, do you think your actions could make a difference?

I don't really see what the story has to do with animals that are bred for meat/leather/fur/etc. They have a purpose and they're treated well until the end.

My point still stands.

How they are treated matters to them.

-face palm- And as I said; they're treated well. Poor treatment= poor product.

Next you're going to go with the peta/hsus idea that pets shouldn't be owned/ate/ and we should all be munching grass.

Was addressing Wolf's comment that was quoted in my post.
Wasn't questioning your treatment of animals.

Why raise animals just to eat them? (No, we're not eating grass, theres other junk we can eat too, or just eat animals.) I wouldn't want to live on a farm. Havin' someone hanging over you, ready to eat you and fatening you up your whole life. I was just saying, its ok to kill animals, but not too many to affect the population.
Too many animals = kill more animals.
Less animals = Help the endangered ones multiply or stop them from being endangered = Make a difference in their lives. You can help them.

Everyone can make a difference if we can just save one at a time. (Is that what you mean't, WEO?) Everyone is just as impotant as the next, its better to save one than none, right? We just gotta have balance in our lives.
